Pustegränd is a narrow street in the Swedish capital Stockholm .

location

The alley is located in the Mariaberget district in the northwest of the island of Södermalm and forms the eastern border of Mariaberget. It runs about 130 meters from the Söder Mälarstrand road steeply uphill to the south, past Bastugatan and Brännkyrkagatan and opens into Hornsgatan . In its southern part it is designed as a staircase.

history

The street was named Maria Pustegränd in 1946. Before that, the names Ragvaldsgatan or Ragwalds Backe were in use. The oldest known name is Ragwaldszgatan from 1670 . This name probably goes back to a Ragvald Larsson mentioned in 1635 . As early as 1679, however, Pustegranden was mentioned as a name, but it disappeared after 1880. While the street was then called Ragvaldsgatan, the stairs down Riddarfjärden were called Ragvaldstrappor or Ragvaldstrapporna . On a map by Petrus Tillaeus from 1733, a jetty is marked directly on the bank , which was called Ragvalds bro at the beginning of the 19th century . This name was still in use until the 1930s, although there was no longer a jetty.
