The Pyke River is a river in Fiordland in the southwest of the South Island of New Zealand . It is the only major tributary to the Hollyford River .
It flows south through Lake Wilmot and Lake Alabaster . Shortly afterwards it flows into the Hollyford River.
Shortly before its mouth, the popular Hollyford Track crosses the river on a rope bridge .
In its middle reaches the river forms the border between the regions Southland and West Coast .
