Pylia (daughter of Pylas)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pylia ( ancient Greek Πυλία ) was the daughter of King Pylas of Megara in Greek mythology .

When Pandion , the son of Kekrops I and eighth king of Athens , was expelled from Athens, he fled, according to the library of Apollodorus, to Pylas in Megara and took his daughter Pylia as his wife. Pausanias , on the other hand, reports that Pandion had previously been married to the daughter of Pylas, whose name Pausanias has not been passed down, and that they fled Athens to Megara with their sons Aigeus , Pallas , Nisos and Lykos . After Pyla's death, Pandion became king of Megara. His sons with Pylia recaptured Attica and divided the land among themselves.
