The Qafa e Thorës ( German : Thore Pass ), actually Qafa Buni i Thorës , also known as Qafa Terthorjës , is a mountain pass in the Albanian Alps in northwestern Albania . The road from Koplik to Theth runs over it . The distance from Boga over the pass to Theth is 25 kilometers. The driveway from the west to the top of the pass is paved, on the east side the road condition is very poor.
The road, built in 1936, was the first mobile connection to the Shala valley . The footpath over the Shtegu i Dhënve pass, a little to the north, was also often used later. The pass is actually not a transition into the upper Shala valley with Theth, but drops steeply towards the south into a side valley of the Shala. The road winds for several kilometers on the steep flank further east, almost without losing height, then turns around the ridge to the north and below the Shtegu i Dhënve leads steeply down in many bends to Theth.
There is a small pond a little to the east of the pass. A little further, where the view opens into the Shala Valley, there is a monument that commemorates Edith Durham , Queen of the Highlands (Mbretëresha e Malësoreve) .
