It consists of the settlements of Okol , Gjecaj , Nik Gjonaj , Gjelaj , Ndreaj , Kola , Unaj and Grunas , some of which are located on the steep slopes. In winter the place is often cut off from the environment for weeks or even months or can only be reached on foot in arduous hikes through the snow. The unpaved road over the 1630 m high Terthorja Pass is covered with snow until late spring. The road to the south into the Kir valley is even worse and hardly passable.

Because of the poor infrastructure and the lack of economic prospects, most of the residents have left the place. Today only very few houses are inhabited all year round. It is estimated that around 80 people live in the village all year round. Schools or medical facilities are closed.

2630 hectares around the village were declared Theth National Park in 1966 . In addition to the mountain peaks, the natural beauties of the region include the Grunas Gorge and the Grunas and Gjeçaj waterfalls .
