Qobul Raimovich Berdiyev

Qobul Raimovich Berdiyev ( Russian Кабул Раимович Бердиев, Gobul Raimowitsch Berdijew * April 5, 1955 in Akkurgan , Tashkent Province , Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a Uzbek Colonel General , who from September 2008 to September 2017 as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan served. Since September 4, 2017 he has been head of the Military Academy of the Uzbek Armed Forces .

Career

Berdiyev's military career began at the Tashkent Higher Tank School , named after the Marshal of the Soviet armored forces Pavel Semyonovich Rybalko . He completed this in 1976. In 1988 he graduated from the Mikhail Frunze Military Academy in Moscow .

Between 1976 and 1998 Berdiyev held various leadership and staff positions in the ranks of the Soviet and Uzbek forces. From 1998 to 2000 he was Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Uzbek Army, before briefly serving as Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces. In 2002, Berdiyev completed advanced training courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .

Between 2003 and 2006, Berdiyev worked as the head of the Tashkent Higher Infantry School, then until 2008 as Minister of Civil Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

By decree of President Islom Karimov , Berdiyev was appointed Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan in September 2008. However, just a year after Karimov's death, the new ruler Shavkat Mirziyoyev relieved Berdiyev and made him head of the Academy of Uzbek Armed Forces instead.

Others

Berdiyev has been a member of the Uzbekistan Council of Ministers since 2008. He is also represented in the Council of Ministers for Defense of the CIS countries .
