Quase

A quase is a fishing vessel with spriet sails , more rarely with gaff sails , on two or three masts. It was mainly used in the Flensburg Fjord , Eckernförde Bay and the Kiel Fjord and was in use until the end of the 19th century. The boat was about 10 meters long and 3 meters wide.

Related name is the ( Pommersche ) Quatze , an open or covered, masted gaff sailors , the transport of live fish from Scandinavia and the Baltic countries served. The Quatze had holes in the floor. The fish could therefore be offered alive in the ports.
