The Queen's Park Shield is held annually football - cup competition , which in the knockout system is discharged. Who take part in the competition universities in Scotland part. The first competition took place in 1922. The record winner is the University of Edinburgh with 27 victories. The Queen's Park Shield is the premier football competition for Scottish universities and colleges.

The winner's trophy was donated in 1921 by the Scottish Amateur Football Association and Queen's Park FC . The Queen's Park Shield was originally played between teams from the country's four traditional universities - Aberdeen , Edinburgh , Glasgow and St Andrews . The universities are the four oldest Scottish universities and are therefore called ancient universities . The competition was initially held in tournament form and after 1980 in the knockout system. From 1980 all universities in Scotland participated.
