The source mite ( Sperchon glandulosus ) is a type from the group of hydrachnidiae (Hydrachnidiae).
The spring mite is yellowish-brown to brown in color, the internal organs of the animal shimmer through the skin. The skin is soft and covered with conspicuous papillae. The legs are largely hairless.
As the common German name suggests, the animals are very often found in springs, but they can also be found on mosses or stones. The larvae of the animal parasitize on mosquito larvae . There is a risk of confusion with the somewhat darker Sperchon brevirostris , which also lives in springs.
