Quincy Phillips

Quincy Phillips (* around 1980) is an American musician ( drums , also arrangement ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Phillips, who is from Baltimore, earned a bachelor's degree in music from Howard University in Washington, DC. He worked in the American jazz scene from the early 2000s; first recordings were made in 2003 with the trio The Young Lions ( Ibrahim's Dream ). In the following years he played a. a. with Jon Beshay, Tim Green ( Songs from the Season , 2013) and in the Christian McBride Bigband ( Bringin 'It , 2017), also with Yolanda Adams , Leon Bridges, Andra Day, Anthony Hamilton, Demi Lovato and Sam Moore. In 2014 he gave concerts with Roy Hargrove in Germany. In 2020 he will lead a quintet that includes Josh Evans , Bruce Williams (alto saxophone), Alex Brown (piano) and Ameen Saleem (bass). Phillips was the winner in the Jazz Composition category for his arrangement of " Alone Together " at the International Association for Jazz Education conference in New York City.
