Quintus (architect)
Quintus was an Imperial Roman architect who worked in Britain .
He is only known for his dedicatory inscription , which was found on an altar for the goddess Minerva in Carrawburgh and identifies him as an architect . In Roman times the fortress Brocolitia was located there on Hadrian's Wall . The altar stone is made of cut sandstone and is now in the Chesters Museum , the inscription reads:
- Minervae
- Quin [t] us
- architect (us)
- v (otum) s (olvit) l (ibens) m (erito)
The job title architectus used to be misinterpreted as part of the name, which would result in the name Quintus Architectus .
