Qurnat Shahwan ( Arabic قرنة شهوان) Is a settlement in Lebanon District al-Mitn in the governorate Lebanon Mountain . It is located 15 kilometers east of the capital Beirut at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level .
Aside from its importance as the seat of the Maronite Archbishop of al-Mitn , the place was little known until 2000 when the Qurnat Shahwan Collection , a predominantly Christian coalition of politicians, intellectuals and business people opposed to the Syrian presence in Lebanon stood, set up their headquarters here.
