from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Qutb ad-Din Muhammad (also Qutb ad-Din Abu 'l-Fath Arslan-Tegin Muhammad , Quṭb ad-Dīn Abū' l-Fatḥ Arslan-Tegin Muḥammad or Muhammad I ) from the Anushteginid dynasty was around 1098 to 1127 / 28 Khorezm Shah in Gurganj and ruler of Central Asian Khorezmia .

His father, Anush-Tegin Ghartschai , became a Turkish military slave in the service of the Greater Seljuks around 1077 governor of the province of Khorezmia. In 1097 he was followed by Ekintschi b. Qotschqar (Ekinči b. Qočqar), who was briefly appointed as "Khorezm Shah" by the Seljuk Sultan Berk-Yaruq . In the same year, Qutb ad-Din Muhammad was able to assert himself as his father's successor.

During his roughly 30-year reign, Qutb ad-Din Muhammad, as a loyal vassal of the Seljuks, managed to consolidate his power to such an extent that his son Ala ad-Din Atsiz could inherit his father's office and title without any problems in 1127 or 1128. With this, Qutb ad-Din Muhammad established the Anushteginid dynasty.
