& RQ (spoken: änderkiù) is an open source client for the OSCAR protocol from 2000 . Development was stopped in 2002, but the program is being further developed by individual programmers in independent projects.

development

The original version of & RQ appeared at the end of 2000 and soon found great approval in the ICQ community. Especially in the Russian-speaking countries and in Italy , the client became one of the most popular, which helped it to get the name "Крыса" (German: rat) due to its logo, which represents a rat. In Germany the client was initially quite unknown. A final version never appeared, development stopped at 0.9.4.16.

Derivatives

Since the development at & RQ was stopped in 2002, further developers were found who built independent derivatives of & RQ in order to adapt it to the new ICQ protocol and to improve it further.

Andrq

andrq is a derivative from 2004. It should be the official successor with the permission of the original author. Unlike z. B. R&Q andrq kept the simple handling of & RQ. In addition to the typical functions of its predecessor, the client also includes a complex event and packet log and an extended plug-in system. The program is aimed more at advanced users.

IMadering

IMadering (formerly Blackrat or CasperICQ) is a derivative from 2006. This client has a very wide range of functions. In addition to the usual functions of & RQ, the program also offers the option of permanently deleting its UIN from the server. Another new feature is internal forwarding, with which a bot logs into another UIN and sends all incoming messages to the active UIN in IMadering. IMadering has a console that shows the entire data traffic between client and server and can also save it in a log file. IMadering also supports the XMPP protocol. Like R&Q, IMadering hardly bears any resemblance to the basic version.

R&Q

R&Q is the best-known derivative that appeared in 2004. With R&Q, a competitive version of & RQ was created which supports the most common functions such as xStatus, invisible contacts and supports proxy support. R&Q also has a plug-in function, with which you can insert your own plug-ins or ready-made plug-ins from the developer website. It has almost no resemblance to the basic version.

Open R&Q

Open R&Q is a platform-independent Lazarus port from R&Q in pre-alpha status and not yet suitable for production operations. The client is based on the source code from R&Q and is published under the GPL. The interface consists of either GTK + or WinAPI .
