Regis Koetschet

Régis Koetschet (born May 4, 1949 ) is a French diplomat .

Life

Régis Koetschet is married and has four children. Régis Koetschet studied law and Arabic at the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales . He has been a Knight of the Ordre national du Mérite since 1993 and a Knight of the Legion of Honor since 2001 . He joined the foreign service on November 18, 1976. From 1977 to 1979 he was second embassy secretary at the embassy in Tripoli, Libya, accredited to the government of Muammar al-Gaddafi . From 1979 to 1981 he was the first embassy secretary in Baghdad, Iraq, accredited to the Saddam Hussein government . From 1981 to 1984 he was employed at the Quai d'Orsay in the Strategy and Disarmament Department. From 1984 to 1986 he was Second Counselor in Islamabad, accredited to the government of Mohammed Zia ul-Haq in Pakistan . From 1987 to 1990 he was Second Counselor in The Hague . From 1999 to 2002 he was Deputy Director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the Quai d'Orsay .
