Jean-François Valette (born July 5, 1952 ) is a French ambassador .

Life

Jean-François Valette majored in history at the École normal supérieure de Lyon , attended the École nationale d'administration from 1980 to 1982 and received his doctorate in 1982 on the subject of Henri François d'Aguesseau .

He joined the field service in 1973 and was an attaché from 1973 to 1979. From 1982 to 1986 at the Embassy of Antananarivo in Madagascar , where he was promoted to first Embassy Secretary in 1983. From 1986 to 1988 he was employed at the Quai d'Orsay in the Economics and Finance Department. From 1988 to 1991 he was employed as a cultural attaché at the Consulate General in Hong Kong. From 1992 to 1994 he was Deputy Head of Human Resources at the Quai d'Orsay. From 1994 to 1999 he was accredited in Ottawa , where he was promoted through the second to the first embassy secretary. From July 1999 to September 2003 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Lome inGnassingbé Eyadéma . Jean-François Valette knew that the Togolese military were recruited from the president's ethnic group . In order to prevent the development cooperation with France from being blatantly used for repression , he recommended the delivery of two patrol boats for the navy to monitor the port of Lomé. From 2003 to 2006 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Yaoundé to the government of Peter Mafany Musonge in Cameroon . From 2007 to 2009 he was prefect in the Ariège department . Jean-François Valette was accredited to the government in Congo by Denis Sassou-Nguesso on December 14, 2009 with the rank of Envoy Plenipotentiary 2 Class . He held this office until 2014. In 2015 he became ambassador of the European Union in Ivory Coast .
