Rémo Meyer (born November 12, 1980 in Langenthal , Switzerland ) is a former Swiss football player . He played in defensive or right midfield, but was also set up in defense.
Career
In his youth, Meyer played at FC Altbüron-Grossdietwil and FC Langenthal. He began his professional football career with FC Luzern in the 1997/98 season in the highest Swiss league (then National League A ), and in 2000 he moved to Lausanne-Sports . After 97 games and five goals in National League A, Meyer left Switzerland in 2002 when he moved to the 1st Bundesliga in Germany for TSV 1860 Munich . In 2004 he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club . He remained goalless in 42 appearances in the first German Bundesliga; in the second Bundesliga he scored two goals in 44 games. After the 2005/2006 season, he decided against an extension of his expiring contract and moved to Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian T-Mobile Bundesliga . Meyer also played at the U-21 European Championship in 2002 for Switzerland and then played five international matches for the senior national team until 2004 .
In 2007 he won the Austrian championship title with the Salzburg team. He scored one goal in eleven games. In the following season Meyer could hardly play games for the Mozartstadt because he suffered from thigh problems and knee problems. In the championship season 2008/09 Meyer was suspended within the club for two games by coach Co Adriaanse and later taken back into the squad, he played a total of ten games in the 2008/09 season. After this rather disappointing season, he remained without a club for over a season and moved to his home club FC Altbüron-Grossdietwil in the 3rd Swiss regional league in September 2010.
Since the 2014/2015 season he was player-coach at FC Hochdorf in the 5th Swiss league. There he finally ended his career in 2017. Since then he has worked as a sports coordinator at FC Luzern .
