The Roman bridge near St. Dionysen is an arched bridge in Oberaich in Upper Styria that was probably built in Roman times (2nd century AD?). It has belonged to the municipality of Bruck an der Mur since 2015 . It was first mentioned in a document in 1454 and is now a listed building .

location

The bridge lies between the districts of Sankt Dionysen and Oberdorf in the former municipality of Oberaich, north of the current course of the Mur . It probably belonged to the former Roman post road that led from Flavia Solva (near today's Wagna ) through the Mur Valley to Poedicum (today Bruck an der Mur) and from there on to Stiriate (today Liezen ).

A bridge near Badl with a section of route has also been preserved from this Roman road .

Dating

The dating of the bridge is uncertain. It is mentioned in the overview work Roman Bridges (1993) by the Australian engineer O'Connor as a building from Roman times, the author citing an older publication from the 1960s.

However, it does not appear in the much more extensive catalog of the Italian scholar Galliazzo from 1994.
