Roman Museum Grabenstätt
The municipal Roman Museum Grabenstätt was created from the Multerer's private collection and has been located in the castle economics behind the town hall in Grabenstätt in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein since August 2012 .
The museum shows archaeological finds from Roman settlements in the vicinity. The highlight of the exhibition is a copy of Bavaria's oldest document that can be precisely dated, the Geiselprechting military diploma from AD 64.
Remnants of wall paintings and mosaics from a villa excavated near Erlstätt in the 19th century bear witness to the luxury and living culture in the Roman province. Utensils, tools, coins, as well as maps and replicas of art objects illustrate the supraregional contacts of the Roman provincial population in the first three centuries after Christ.
Remains of the excavated villa are in the Erlstätt community.
