The Römerstadtschule is a primary school on the outskirts of the Römerstadt settlement of Frankfurt-Heddernheim . It was initially located in the building of today's Geschwister-Scholl-Schule . The settlement and school were named after the former Roman city of Nida .

The Römerstadtschule has been known since 1988 as an integrative school for all children who live in the south-west of Frankfurt's north-west town. In 2014 the school won 2nd place in the German School Prize .

Beginnings

The Römerstadtschule was built on the northern edge of Straße In der Römerstadt , not far from the confluence of Hadrianstraße with Straße In der Römerstadt , i.e. exactly on the border between the Römerstadt settlement and the southern northwest town. In 1969 the school took over the name and part of the function of a forerunner opened in 1929, the so-called "old" Römerstadtschule, which was built around 400 m as the crow flies south on the edge of Hadrianstrasse at the same time as the building of the Römerstadt settlement as an elementary school (comparable to today's combined elementary school and Hauptschule ), the building that today houses the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule.

Unique selling proposition after the German School Award

In the Römerstadtschule, the children no longer learn separately according to age group, but in mixed-age learning groups with 50 pupils each. Schoolchildren with different talents (with and without special needs), with socio-emotional developmental delays and wheelchair users are also taught together. The project started in 1986 and really got going in 2008, when students with language deficits increased.

Catchment area

Most of the students come from the districts of southern Northwest City , the eastern edge of Praunheim , from Ginnheim and from the Römerstadt settlement. The school can be reached with the underground lines U1 and U9 (stop Römerstadt) and the omnibus 60 (stop Hadrianstraße).
