The Roman burial mound near Siesbach is located in the forest district of Kipp near Siesbach in the Hunsrück . The burial mound dates from the second century and was uncovered in 1976/77.

The burial mound, which was built around 175 AD, is originally a four to five meter high embankment, which is surrounded by a circular wall. At the top of the hill there is a 1.2 m high sculpture . It is a Doric column with an eagle sitting on a pine cone on the capital , which has caught a snake. This is an ancient symbol of fertility and the cycle of life.

On the side where the eagle's gaze is directed is a 3.8 x 2 m altar. This altar was originally furnished with two life-size figures of the god Lenus Mars and perhaps of Attis . The remains of these figures can be viewed in the Birkenfeld Museum.

The architecture and symbolism of the grave as well as the inventory found here bear witness to the Roman influence on the local population, making the grave mound an important testimony to the Gallo-Roman culture. The burial mound probably served as a family burial site.

The burial mound is located on the Sirona-Weg , which connects important Roman and Celtic cultural monuments in the Hunsrück. It can be easily reached from Leisel via an asphalt road. But it is also signposted from Siesbach.
