history

The piano factory was founded in 1845 by Carl Rönisch (1814–1894) in Dresden . In 1866 he developed the cast iron frame, one of the most important requirements for modern piano construction . With first prizes at world exhibitions, the factory became a purveyor to the court for the Saxon royal family . Due to the high quality of the products, the owner Karl Moritz Rönisch was awarded the title of kuk court piano manufacturer .

In 1918 Hermann Rönisch, the son of the company founder, sold the "Carl Rönisch Hof-Pianofabrik" to Ludwig Hupfeld AG in Leipzig after the successor to his successor had died in the First World War . He had been a business partner with Ludwig Hupfeld since 1902.

In 1945 the main Rönisch plant fell victim to the bombing raid on Dresden . Since 1948 the instruments with the brand name Rönisch have been built in the "Leipziger Pianofortefabrik", the main factory of Ludwig Hupfeld AG in the Böhlitz-Ehrenberg district of Leipzig. In 1967 the "Leipziger Pianofortefabrik" was incorporated into the VEB Deutsche Piano-Union Leipzig .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , this state enterprise was dissolved; The "Leipziger Pianofortefabrik GmbH" was created from Plant 1 of Rönisch / Hupfeld. This was taken over by the Leonberg- based piano manufacturer Pfeiffer , for whom Rönisch / Hupfeld also manufactured instruments under the Pfeiffer name at times .

In 2009 the Pianofortefabrik Leipzig GmbH & Co. KG was taken over by the piano manufacturer Blüthner and has been operating under the traditional name of "Carl Rönisch Pianofortemanufaktur GmbH" since then. In the same year production moved to the Blüthner factory in Großpösna near Leipzig.
