The Röthensteiner See is a lake in the Bavarian Prealps . It is located southwest below the Plankenstein in the municipality of Rottach-Egern . The Röthenstein is also northeast of the lake . To the southeast is the Risserkogel . The lake is easiest to access from the Röthensteinalm in the north.
The Röthensteiner See has neither inflow nor outflow. The water level falls sharply depending on the season. When the tide is low, a land bridge divides the lake in half.
