The fungal genus of the turnip ( Collybia s. L. ) Was divided into several genera on the basis of DNA examinations and phylogenetic analyzes (Hughes et al. 2001):
- Dwarf or sclerotia ( Collybia s. Str. ),
- Dendrocollybia , monotypical genus with the species grape-stalked sclerotia root
- Pale blooms ( Gymnopus ),
- Pink sprouts ( Rhodocollybia ).
In addition, there are other types of mushrooms that are not closely related to the "real" carrots, which are referred to as carrots in German usage:
- Cones or nail sponges ( strobilurus )
- Velvet foot calves ( Flammulina ; e.g. common velvet foot calves )
- Slime carrots ( Oudemansiella )
- Root root ( Xerula ; e.g. Grubiger root root or brown-haired root root )
