Rüfe

Rüfe means in areas of Eastern Switzerland :

• a debris flow
• a mountain stream that only carries water seasonally when the snowmelts

In contrast to Rüfe in the general meaning of "Mure" / "debris flow" a Rüfe returns to the importance of seasonal Bach ( periodic water ) every year at the same place again and is accordingly installed to prevent damage cases.

An example of a rüfe of this type is the Teilerrüfi in the Bündner Herrschaft in the Swiss canton of Graubünden .
