When RBU-1000 ( Russo Реактивная бомбомётная установка , Reaktiwnaja bombometnaja ustonowka ) is a Russian water bombers . The weapon system is vaguely similar to the British Hedgehog launch system from WWII.

description

The weapon system was developed at the same time as the RBU-6000 . In contrast to this, it has a shorter range but a larger caliber. The bullets used have a significantly higher explosive power than those used in the RBU-6000. Many Soviet and Russian warship classes use both types of launchers.

The RBU-1000 has six launching tubes with a caliber of 300 mm in a circle. Unguided RGB-10 depth charges are fired. Usually, these are fired in automatic volleys of 1, 2, 4 or 6 projectiles with an interval of one second per projectile. Reloading takes place automatically from an ammunition store, which is usually located below the deck directly under the launcher.

Similar to the RBU-6000, the system is controlled by a PUS-B “Burja” (“Буря”, German: “storm”) fire control system. The entire weapon system is also known in Russian as "Smertsch-3" ("Смерч-3", German: "Tornado-3").
