When RBU-6000 ( Russo Реактивная бомбометная установка , Reaktiwnaja bombometnaja ustanowka ) is a Russian water bombers . The weapon system is vaguely similar to the British Hedgehog launch system from WWII.

description

The weapon system was introduced in the early 1960s, probably 1961, and is used on many Russian warships . There are twelve launching tubes with a caliber of 213 mm in a horseshoe shape. The system is controlled by the Burja fire control system , which can also control the system with a shorter range RBU-1000 . Usually the grenades are fired in volleys from one, two, four, eight or twelve projectiles. Unguided RGB-60 depth charges are fired. Reloading takes place automatically with the 60UP auto-loading system from an ammunition store, which is located below deck and holds up to 96 projectiles in stock. The RBU-6000 can also be used for coastal bombardment.

The entire weapon system is also called "Smertsch-2" ("Смерч-2", German: "Tornado-2") in Russian.

The RPK-8 system is a modernized variant of the RBU-6000 system that fires 90R missiles that can be controlled in the water. In this way, targets that run deep up to 1000 meters can be fought with comparatively precise accuracy. The 19.5 kg shaped charge warhead can penetrate the outer shell of submarines . The RPK-8 system can also be used against torpedoes . The response time is given as 15 seconds. The system has a hit probability of 80%.
