from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RBU-2500 ( Russo Реактивная бомбометная установка , Reaktiwnaja bombometnaja ustonowka ) is a Russian water bombers . The weapon system is vaguely similar to the British Hedgehog launch system from WWII.

description

The system was developed in 1957 and was intended for use on larger ships than the RBU-1200 developed around the same time .

The RBU-2500 has 16 gun tubes in a system that have to be reloaded manually.

The system is controlled by a PUS-B “Smertsch” fire control system. This name became unofficially known for the entire weapon system, so that the successor systems were officially given the nickname "Smertsch-2" ( RBU-6000 ) or "Smertsch-3" ( RBU-1000 ).
