Raúl Lara (born February 28, 1973 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mostly played in defensive midfield .

Life

Lara began his professional career at his hometown club America , where he was under contract for more than twelve years between 1990 and the end of 2002 and with which he won the Mexican championship title just in time before he left for the former branch team San Luis . After another first division station at Puebla FC in the 2003/04 season, he let his active career fade away in the 2004/05 season with the Lobos de la BUAP , who are playing in the second division .

National team

Lara made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on January 11, 1996 in a 5-0 win against the selection of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. His last international appearance was on July 16, 2000, when Panama was defeated 1-0.

Lara took part in the 1996 Summer Olympic Tournament as well as in the 1998 World Cup , where he played against South Korea (3: 1), Belgium (2: 2) and Germany (1: 2).
