Raúl Vallarino

Raúl Vallarino , also known under the pseudonym Richard Durant , (born July 19, 1951 in Montevideo , Uruguay) is a Uruguayan writer and journalist .

Vallarino, who published in part under the pseudonym Richard Durant , published his first novel Síndrome in 1995 . The following year he published a collection of anecdotes and memories on Uruguayan television entitled Todo comenzó en un galpón . He was awarded the International Prize of the Fundación Philippe Cousteau for his work, Historias del vapor de la Carrera , which was then published . The 1999 novel Sueños de cebtre forward earned him the Premio Integración , awarded by the municipality of Corvera . In 2001, Nadie pensaba en ella , another novel from his pen, was published, which he followed up with the novella La mujer de la fotografía a year later . Vallarino's other books are La triple alianza (2007), the novel Mi nombre es Patria (2008) and ¡Llamen al comisario Otero! (2008).

Vallarino is the inventor of the Maratón Nacional de Lectura, which has been held five times since 2001 . From 2000 to March 2005 he was director of the Uruguayan National Library. He directed the television program Documento XXI and from 2000 to 2003 the Entre libros y autores broadcast on MONTECABLE . From 2002 to 2005 he held the position of envoy of Uruguay in the Centro Regional para el Fomento del Libro en América Latina y el Caribe (CERLALC). Vallarino is President of the Center de Gestión Cultural and an advisory member of the Fundación Lolita Rubial .
