Ra Heeduk (born February 8, 1966 in Nonsan , Ch'ungch'ŏngnam-do ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Ra Heeduk was born on February 8, 1966 in Nonsan , South Ch'ungch'ŏng Province . She grew up in an orphanage where her parents - devout Christians - worked in administration. Ra claims that the experience of growing up with orphans turned her into a precocious child and made her understand the difference between herself and her playmates at an early age, which gave her a unique worldview.

It was more of a coincidence that Ra's life turned on the lyric . Caught between her parents' religious ideas and the causes of the student movements she faced during her time at university, she sought salvation in poetry.

Her poetic imagination is rooted in the vitality and growth manifested in motherhood and plant life. Her early works pierce the fog of hypocrisy and contradiction that lingers over our everyday lives, yet they maintain a mood of forgiveness and maternal warmth. In their works there are mothers who take on a lot of misery in order to raise their children. The tenderness with which the author hugs this complicated world is rooted in her absolute belief in the life force that makes trees grow and breast milk flows. She is constantly searching for the source of this life force, and in order to become receptive to the things that nature communicates to her, she hears with her eyes and sees with her ears.
