action

The plot of the musical takes place in the fairytale forest. Here all fairy tale creatures live peacefully side by side and with one another and play their fairy tales every day.

Hansel and Gretel make their way to the witch's crunchy house. While the two are in great danger with the witch, a gang of rats approaches. They loot the gingerbread house. Other fairy tale creatures were also stolen important items from their fairy tales.

In great turmoil, the fairy-tale creatures gather to get advice and help from the king.

This decides. to found a fairy tale police. Part of this fairytale police are: Puss in Boots , Pinocchio , Aladin , Sleeping Beauty and the witch.

The fairytale police should first find Rollum the wise and ask him for advice.

At Rollum, the hysterical little elf, who takes care of Rollum, joins the colorful troop.

With the catchphrase "rats", Rollum remembers an old story. Years ago, the black wizard tried to usurp power in the fairy tale kingdom. He was defeated and only has magic powers in his castle. The black wizard still seeks power and sends his rats under the leader Raffzahn. They are supposed to steal items from the fairy tale creatures so that they can no longer play their stories and are thus forgotten.

The fairytale police now know the "enemy" and set out to get their items back.

On their journey, the troops have to prove that they can stick together. Dealing with the headstrong witch is particularly difficult.

The fairytale police fall for a trick of the magician. The rats put up a little market wagon, disguised, where the fairytale police buy refreshments. The rats trickled a magic potion into the shower head, which turns everyone into chickens and thus makes them harmless. By a lucky coincidence, the witch's shower spills and she notices the magic.

She gets into a conflict. On the one hand she doesn't like the other beings, on the other hand she can only save her own fairy tale with them. The witch decides to create an antidote.

The troops want to split up as a result of a dispute. Rollum enters, warns of this step and reminds of the danger posed by the wizard and that friendship is the most important weapon in the fight against him. Only the cat has recognized that they should be grateful to the witch and stays with the witch and Rollum. The three decide to follow the others for their safety.

Arrived at the magician's castle, the first part of the fairy tale police (Aladin, Pinocchio, Elfchen and Sleeping Beauty) are taken prisoner. Rollum can free them. The group is reconciled and it is decided to leave Pinocchio alone in the cage as a distraction.

He is supposed to throw the Pied Piper's flute out of the castle. This succeeds and Aladin makes the rats harmless with their help.

The wizard ignores the boundaries of his castle as he tries to follow the rats. Outside the castle, without magic, but eloquent and dangerous, he tries to overcome the fairytale police. He brings Elfchen under his control, which can break free. The witch and Rollum use their magical powers together to destroy the wizard.

The danger in the fairytale forest is averted. Hansel and Gretel finally want to play their fairy tale to an end. The witch, exhausted, sends her nagging away. At the end, the image of the witch is played out sympathetically again.

The witch to Hansel and Gretel: "(loudly) DISAPPEARS !! ... (quieter, with a spark of sympathy in her voice) Come back tomorrow."

Trivia

The role of Pinocchio was taken over by Tillmann Schnieders, who was still unknown in 1997. During his entrance exam he sang a song that was completely unknown to the examiners: "Alone" from the musical Rabatz in the Magic Forest, the song for which the Hessen audience celebrated him.

The role of Rollum was taken over by Hammer Lord Mayor Thomas Hunsteger-Petermann in 1997 as well as in 2006 , in 1997 still as council chairman of the Hammer CDU.

For the new edition of the musical in 2006, Barth revised the textbook. He added a "rat school" in order to also take into account the children playing and to be able to present the nature of rats in more detail. Furthermore, a new scene followed after the break in which the viewer is shown that the fairy tale characters are already beginning to dissolve because they are being forgotten.
