The rabbinate Westhoffen was created to July 1, 1844 Rabbinatsbezirk (fr. Circonscription rabbinique) in Westhoffen , a French commune in the Bas-Rhin in the region Alsace .

Law of May 25, 1844

The law of May 25, 1844, which laid down the statutes of the Jewish religious community ("Règlement pour l'organisation du culte israélite") in France, determined the creation of the Westhoffen rabbinical district.
