Raven Island Bridge

The Rabeninselbrücke is located in Halle (Saale) , spans the Saale south of the Böllberg lock (river kilometer 95.8) and connects the districts of Südstadt and Gesundbrunnen with Rabeninsel , one of the city's preferred local recreation areas. The bridge was one of the external projects of the World Expo 2000 .

description

The Rabeninselbrücke is a cable-stayed bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. It is supported by a single 38 m high, sloping pylon on the city side of the Saale. The pylon tapers to a point and is mounted in a ball joint at the foot . From the city side, the bridge can be entered at ground level via two entrances. In terms of construction, this was achieved by dividing the superstructure in front of the pylon, and the parts to the right and left of the pylons are led past the connection to the Böllberger Weg. The difference in altitude between the city-side bank and the bank of the Raven Island is approx. 8 m. To overcome this, an approx. 80 m long counter-rotating ramp was built on the island side.

The Saale is navigable at this point. In order not to restrict this due to the bridge, it was created in such a way that a clearance height of 4.75 above the highest navigable water level is ensured.

A second bridge to the Rabeninsel in steel girder construction is located north and serves vehicles and pedestrians as access to the Böllberg lock system. Both bridges are part of a side route of the Saale cycle path .
