The Rachel Glacier is a 10 km long glacier on the Oskar II coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows in an easterly direction along the northern flank of Mount Baleen to the Larsen Ice Shelf north of Scar Inlet .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave it in 1976, like other geographical objects in the area, a name from the thematic area " whales and whaling ". The Rachel is a fictional whalers from Herman Melville's 1851 novel, the released and Moby-Dick .
