Rachel Seiffert

Rachel Seiffert (born 1971 in Oxford ) is a British writer.

Life

Rachel Seiffert comes from a German-Australian family and was raised bilingually. In 2007 she received her PhD from the University of Glasgow .

Her first novel, The Dark Chamber (2001), was nominated for the Booker Prize and won the Betty Trask Award in 2002. Cate Shortland's film version of the book entitled Lore premiered in 2012. To the dark chamber followed 2004, the short story collection field studies and 2007. After that , another novel. In 2011 she received the "EM Forster Award" from the American Academy of Arts and Letters . Seiffert is compared to Katherine Mansfield for her subtle prose style .

She lives in London with her family .
