Radio 3FACH is a non-commercial local radio station in Lucerne and a member of the Union of Non- Commercial Local Radios (UNIKOM) .

history

The idea for a non-commercial youth radio was born in 1992 among students at the Alpenquai Lucerne School . In 1994 it was broadcast for a month for the first time, the driving force behind the project was Attila Revesz. Radio 3FACH received the definitive license in February 1998. Since October 17, 1998 it has been on the air with a full program. In 2012, the station received the recognition award from the City of Lucerne's Art and Culture Prize .

Target audience and program

Radio 3FACH primarily plays music that is intended to appeal to people between the ages of 13 and 30. In contrast to commercial radio stations, there is also a lot of alternative rock , electronica and hip-hop . There are also discussions, interviews and information, especially from the region. The radio attaches particular importance to promoting local and national music bands and the rest of the cultural work of the Lucerne region. Music specials on various genres are on the program every evening.

The broadcaster also regularly organizes public concerts, podiums and art projects. Since 1996, Radio 3FACH has been organizing, together with its sister association Openair Lidowise, the free open air "Funk am See", which takes place every second summer on the Lidowiese Lucerne and attracts up to 15,000 viewers. Numerous events take place between April and September at the “Volière” city lounge bar on the Inseliquai.

The station is organized as an association. The executive board consists of four people each, the executive board consists of the resigned executive board members. The program is designed and moderated by young people between 15 and 25 years of age. The ombudsman rtv - the radio and television broadcasters in German and Romansh Switzerland - serves as the ombudsman. A so-called radio council, made up of people from the city of Lucerne who are active in the media sector, serves as an additional advisory body to the association's board. The four members of the executive board are: David Largier (program and editing), Benedikt Geisseler (music), Melanie Reber (marketing and communication), and Simone Ruckstuhl (chairman of the executive board).

The radio has the two transmitters Hubelmatt (school building) and KVA Ibach (waste incineration plant). It can be received from these stations in the city of Lucerne and the nearby agglomeration communities. It can be heard via cable in numerous municipalities in the Canton of Lucerne . Plus in several communities in the cantons of Schwyz and Zug. Radio 3FACH can also be received by cable in almost all municipalities in the canton of Nidwalden (cable network Nidwalden) and in Obwalden (UPC Switzerland).
