Radio Ri was a radio station from eastern Switzerland . The transmission area extends from Chur via the Sarganserland to Lake Walen and Lake Constance . In 2008 he merged with Radio Aktuell to become Radio FM1 . Radio Ri was awarded the “Radio of the Year” prize in 2006 because, according to Publica Data, it had the highest increase in listeners in the entire Swiss radio landscape.

history

The radio station could be heard on seven frequencies. The transmission location was in Buchs SG . It was broadcast from 1986, initially under the station name Radio Gonzen . A subsidiary was then set up in Altstätten under the name Radio Rheintal . The two stations were later merged to form Radio Ri.

On November 23, 2006, St. Galler Tagblatt AG took over the majority of shares in Radio Ri. With this takeover, St. Galler Tagblatt AG intends to secure the long-term development of Radio Aktuell and Radio Ri. As part of the reorganization of the radio reception areas in 2008, a joint concession area with continued strong local anchoring at the two locations in Buchs and St. Gallen was planned.

For St. Galler Tagblatt AG, this cooperation was trend-setting: the two radios together have around 140,000 listeners and thus a size that allows them to face the new challenges of digitization and the rapidly changing use of media. The parties have agreed not to disclose the takeover price for the share package.

In a press release on December 17, 2007, it was announced that Radio Aktuell and Radio Ri will merge from May 2008. Radio Ri will stop broadcasting 24 hours a day in May 2008. A window program is simply produced. The rest is broadcast from St. Gallen.

Radio Ri has been called Radio FM1 since May 7, 2008 .
