Radio receiver

The valid until the end of 2012 Rundfunkgebührenstaatsvertrag contract defined radio receivers as "a technical device capable of wireless or wired, not delayed auditory or visual or recording of broadcasting are suitable -Darbietungen (radio and television)" ( § 1, paragraph 1, sentence 1 of the RGebStV ).

1 January 2013 the license fee treaty was the broadcast contribution treaty replacing obsolete and thus the legal definition of radio receivers.

No radio receivers are in the sense of the State Treaty on Broadcasting Fee

because they cannot make the television signal visible without an additional receiver.
In the case of a combination of DVB-S or DVB-T receiver and an analog television set connected to it, the DVB receiver is the actual (fee-based) radio receiver; the television can only be seen here as a monitor.
