Wünsdorf cycling museum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wünsdorf Cycling Museum in Wünsdorf near Berlin showed exhibits related to cycling with a focus on Berlin and Brandenburg .

The museum was opened in the Wünsdorfer Gutenberghaus in 2009, after parts of the collection had already been shown in the “Museum des Teltow ”. It was founded by the Berlin cycling journalist Werner Ruttkus .

Among other things, the museum traced the history of the oldest German classic Rund um Berlin , which was first started in 1896 in Zossen , around three kilometers as the crow flies from today's museum. Special shows were dedicated to the racing cyclist Gustav-Adolf Schur and the cycling trainer Wolfram Lindner . The “Retro 1960” section shows the 1960 World Championships in the GDR in Leipzig, Chemnitz and the Sachsenring, as well as the cycling competitions at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome . The history of indoor cycling and cycling in the region also attracted attention.

In 2013 the museum had to close for financial reasons. The initiator Werner Ruttkus opened the small private museum “Spoke Sports Gallery” in his house in 2016.
