Radu Sîrbu

Radu Sîrbu (born December 14, 1978 in Peresecina , Moldovan SSR ; also known as Radu Sârbu , RadU or Picasso ) is a Moldovan pop singer , DJ and music producer . Sîrbu was a member of the boy group O-Zone , but was also able to work as a solo singer or in cooperation with his wife Ana in the MR. & MS project after the band split in 2005 . To show successes especially in the Romanian-speaking area .

life and career

Sîrbu spent most of his childhood in his hometown Peresecina, but also lived temporarily in the cities of Orhei and Bălți . In his youth he helped his father out as a DJ in a night club. In 1996 he began studying singing at the Chișinău Music Conservatory.

In 2001 he sang in a casting show initiated by Dan Bălan for the boy band O-Zone . A replacement for Petru Jelihovschi had to be found. The trio complemented Arsenie Toderaș (Arsenium). From 2002 the group was able to record successes in Moldova but also in neighboring Romania . With the single Dragostea din tei the band achieved an international number one hit in the summer of 2004; it was followed by the top ten hit Despre tine .

After O-Zone announced their separation in the spring of 2005 in order to devote themselves to solo careers, Sîrbu wrote the song Dulce together with DJ Mahay . Sîrbu now appeared as RadU. This was followed by the songs Whap-pa and the release of his first album Alone . Together with ex-O-Zone member Arsenium, he released the song July . Since March 2008 he has been operating under the name MR. & MS. together with his wife Ana. At the end of March, the single Love Is Not a Reason to Cry was released. The album Heartbeat followed in the same year.

Shortly after the release of this album, Sîrbu wrote the song Single Lady together with his wife for the Moldovan singers DJ Layla and Alissa . The song made it into the Top 40 charts in Romania, Moldova and Russia and was one of the most heard songs on Romanian radio in 2009. This success was followed by the single City Of Sleeping Hearts , where Sîrbu also produced the music video. In 2011 Sîrbu founded his own label Rassada Music .

Sîrbu is married and lives in Bucharest , Romania with his wife and daughters and their son, who was born in 2016 .
