The Rae River is a tributary of the Coronation Gulf in the Nunavut Territory in the far north of Canada .
The Rae River rises 20 km east of Bluenose Lake at an elevation of 500 m . Initially it flows in a south-southeast direction. It then turns east after 60 km and flows a further 120 km to its confluence about 30 km west of Kugluktuk in Richardson Bay , a bay of the Coronation Gulf. The Rae River has a length of about 180 km.
The Rae River was named in honor of the Scottish polar explorer John Rae .
