Rafael de Mattos Andriato (born October 20, 1987 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian racing cyclist .

Career

Rafael Andriato began his career in 2007 with the Brazilian Continental Team Memorial-Fupes-Santos . In the same year he was successful with stage wins in South American races, and he won the Meeting Internacional de Goiânia and the Prova Ciclística 9 de Julho . In 2011 he won the Gran Premio Industrie del Marmo and a stage of the Tour do Rio. After four years without a contract, he drove for Italian teams from 2012 , initially for Farnese Vini-Selle Italia . In 2013 he had his only start on a Grand Tour when he started at the Giro d'Italia and finished 165th. In the following years he achieved further stage successes, for example at the Vuelta a Venezuela (2014) and the Tour of Hainan (2016). In 2019 he moved to the home team São Francisco Saùde / Klabin / SME Ribeirão Preto .

In January 2020, Andriato fell on his face while racing in Argentina. His injuries had to be sewn with 50 stitches.
