Rafael Michelini
Rafael Michelini Delle Piane (born October 30, 1958 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician .
He is the son of Elisa Delle Pianes and Zelmar Michelinis , a former senator and chamber president who was murdered in exile in Argentina in connection with the era of the military dictatorship. His brother Felipe Michelini was also active in political positions and, in addition to his parliamentary activities, was also Vice-President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay.
Rafael Michelini himself is the founder and chairman of Nuevo Espacio , a party belonging to the ruling party alliance Frente Amplio . From 1990 Rafael Michelini sat for five years as a member of the Montevideo Department for Por el Gobierno del Pueblo - Lista 99 in the House of Representatives. Since February 15, 1995, as a member of Nuevo Espacio , with a short interruption in the second half of 1999 until the beginning of the 45th legislative period in February 2000, he has held the office of senator.
In the current legislative period, which began in February 2010, he sits for the Frente Liber Seregni , a left-wing electoral alliance founded in August 2009 , in the Cámara de Senadores .
