The Rahir Point ( French Cap Rahir ) is a headland at the Danco Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Bay of Flanders , it marks the northeastern end of a peninsula immediately north of Thomson Cove .
Participants in the Belgica expedition (1897–1899), led by the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery , did the first mapping and naming. It is probably named after the Belgian geographer Maurice Rahir (1862–1935), librarian and later General Secretary of the Société Royale Belge de Géographie . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred the French name to English on September 23, 1960.
