The Thomson Cove ( French Baie Thomson ) is a bay at the head of the Flanders Bay on the Danco coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is there north of the Etienne Fjord .
The mapping of the bay goes back to participants in the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903–1905) by polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Charcot named it after the French politician Gaston Arnold Marie Thomson (1848-1932), France's Minister of the Navy in 1905. On September 23, 1960, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the French name into English.
