The mill around 1880

The Rahmer mill was a historic mill in Sontheim at Horkheimer Strasse 67. It got its water from the Schozach . The remaining remains of the old mill, such as the listed heraldic stones and the mill canal with bridges and weir, are considered cultural monuments .

The two-storey mill with rustication and a mansard roof was a rococo- style building from 1774 and was destroyed by artillery fire on April 11, 1945. The facade of the building was divided into corresponding axes by five windows . On the first floor, two wide arches were faded in on both the left and right sides . The front door was located in the front-facing arch on the right, with a lion with a coat of arms above the front door. A mill wheel was originally to be seen in this coat of arms. In the left facing arch was a window, above the window a lion with a coat of arms with the year 1774 could be seen. The still preserved rococo cartridges with heraldic lions, the mill wheel symbol and the initials F. R. (Friedrich Rahmer) are under monument protection and are located on the gable of the new mill, built in 1949.

The grave of the art mill owner Albert Rahmer (1846–1897) has been preserved in the old cemetery of Sontheim.
