Structure and structure

After the implementation of the cooperative law , the ultimate goal of Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen is to promote the income or economy of its members. The Raiffeisenbank is owned by the people in the region, the so-called co-owners.

History and structure

The Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen was founded on April 9, 1898 as the “Advance Fund Association Gunskirchen”. By 1912, the advance fund association Gunskirchen had developed into the sixth largest in Upper Austria. In 1939 the name was replaced by the now well-known name "Raiffeisenkasse Gunskirchen". Today, Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen, with its branches in Bachmanning, Offenhausen and Pennewang, is one of the 40 largest Raiffeisen banks in Upper Austria. Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen and its branches have been a Climate Alliance operation since 2012 .

The environmental center was founded in 2012 by Hubert Pupeter, Managing Director of Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen. As an initiative of Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen, the environmental center is managed in a separate accounting group with separate bookkeeping. This means that you can always see where the money is going.

The environmental center is a department of the Raiffeisenbank Gunskirchen and was described in the press as the first regional "Ökobank" in Upper Austria.

The environmental center combines traditional banking based on the ideas of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen with an environmental mandate. The idea is to give customers responsibility for their finances back. The customer is given the right to have a say in where the money goes and where the interest comes from. The environmental center only finances ecological and social loan projects with its customer deposits.

The environmental guarantee is an essential cornerstone. The environmental guarantee is a promise that precisely defined ecological criteria will be adhered to when granting loans. This is checked once a year by an external auditor and implemented projects are presented on the website.

In July 2014 the environmental center invested a credit volume of 6.8 million euros in ecological projects. This is made up as follows: wind energy 52%, photovoltaics 30%, biomass 14% and innovative ideas 4% (as of July 31, 2014).

According to the company, implementing the projects will save 3,905,850 kg of carbon dioxide annually.

In 2020, the environmental current account and environmental savings books of the environmental center were the first bank in Austria to receive the Austrian eco-label for sustainable financial products.
