Raimund Krämer (* 1952 in Simmerath ) is a German political scientist and editor-in-chief of the specialist journal WeltTrends .

Life

Krämer studied at the Institute for International Relations in Potsdam. In 1980 the doctorate followed, in 1985 the defense of the habilitation thesis. Since 1990 he has been a professor for international and comparative political science at the University of Potsdam . Research stays in Oxford, Bogotá and Salzburg followed. In 2011 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Potsdam.

His main research interests lie in the areas of international politics and comparative political science . Here he is primarily concerned with the political developments in South and Central America as well as those in the European Union. Further topics of his research are borders in international relations, regime types and the relationship between the military and politics.

Krämer is the translator and editor of the first German-language edition of the classic "Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes" written by Juan José Linz .
