WeltTrends has been a monthly journal for international politics since 1993 . The editorial office is in Potsdam. The journal is published by the registered association WeltTrends and the West Institute in Poznan in Poland. The magazine is politically independent and is not financed by political parties or state institutions. She is a cooperation partner of Linksnet . There is also cooperation with Berghof Conflict Research and the Foundation for Development and Peace (SEF). The editor-in-chief is Raimund Krämer .

As a German-Polish project, the magazine focuses on topics from and about Central and Eastern Europe . At the same time, the magazine is a forum for debates on global issues and the “new German foreign policy” . In the sense of comparative country studies, analyzes of individual countries or regions are published on a regular basis.

Each issue deals with a focus (topic) that is discussed in five to seven articles. In addition, debates on current topics are regularly opened in the "Dispute Area" section, which various authors can discuss over several issues. Further categories are WeltBlick, Forum, Portrait and Commentary. Reviews, new publications and conference reports are also part of the magazine.

Since 2017 WeltTrends has been discussing military and security issues at regular intervals under the title multipolar . The monthly magazine, WeltTrends - The Foreign Policy Journal, takes up topics that had previously been published by the DSS working papers .

Contributors in the past decades have included Egon Bahr , Hartmut Elsenhans , Juan Linz , Uri Avnery , Ernst-Otto Czempiel , Heiner Flassbeck , Jochen Hippler , Volker Perthes , Sibylle Tönnies , Immanuel Wallerstein and Werner Weidenfeld .
